While most zombies crave brains...

...I crave progressive metal.

Whether it's in my car, on my beloved iPod, or on my old-school home stereo.  Prog is a part of me.  It's in my blood.  It's in my soul.  It has, without a doubt, shaped me in many ways.

I became introduced to the genre through the success of Queensrÿche in the early 1990s, and soon thereafter I discovered similar bands such as Dream Theater and Fates Warning.  With the advent of the internet, I learned of outstanding overseas acts like Pain of Salvation and Porcupine Tree.  Today, my preferred groups range from up-and-comers like UK-based Valis Ablaze and Voices From the Fuselage to veteran bands like Evergrey and Riverside.

To me, progressive metal is one of the top forms of art – incorporating elements of intense technical music, thought-provoking lyrics and artwork, and stage presentations that often bring listeners inside a unique world.  Prog's a state of mind.  It's a way of life.  It's...prog.  And if you're reading this blog, it's probably safe to say that you're a prog enthusiast too.

This blog's objective is to provide an outlet for me to share reviews and possibly interviews.  Sometimes I'll post often, sometimes not.  It depends on how inspired I am by new music.  Reviews will also be posted on other sites, like Prog Archives, to reach a wider audience.

In closing, thanks for visiting.  And prog on!
